RESEARCH: Function Of A Digipak

Digipak style packaging is often used for special editions of CD albums. Digipaks typically consist of a gate-fold which is book-styled, paper-board or hard stock outer binding with one or more plastic trays capable of holding a CD or DVD attached to the inside. The front of the digipak should have some aspect of what the artist represents and what their genre is. Digipaks most likely embody a theme or a message about the artist  and their approach to their music. All aspects of the digipak, brand image and music video all interwoven together. A digipak benefits the artist and their music as its promotional aspect of the music industry which helps bring awareness to the artist thus selling the artist and encouraging consumers to buy and listen to their music. However when a consumer buys a digipak this also establishes their loyalty to the artist.
