Within the short time the of learning about music videos in AS. I learnt how camerawork, editing, mis-en-scene, creativity and innovation, generic conventions can all be experimented with when making a music video depending on the genre and the song of the artist for example when it comes to camera work we mostly see innovative shots, camera focusing mainly the artist and a variety of shots types used.
I also learnt about the history of music videos and how MTV played a major role. MTV (Music Television) was first launched on August 1st 1981 which helped artist showcase their music videos along with their songs. MTV started a POP culture phenomenon. It changed the way we as the audience consumed music, we could watch it simultaneously rather than just listening on the radio. The biggles song 'Video Killed The Radio Star' was the first aired in 1979 on top of the pops to replace its performance and then the first video was aired on MTV.
