Carol Vernallis research

Carol Vernallis studied editing and camera work closely in music videos. What she observed was that edits in music videos come much more frequently than in film and that many stand out and that the editing seems to have a rhythmic basis closely connected to the song. She also says that jump cuts are often used and that base tracks are frequently used to give the video a structure and her last point is that the camera may move in time with the music.
